She became famous thanks to a bed, the English artist Tracey Emin.My Bed was a scandal in the Nineties not just for the mess but for what lay above it, amid blood, condoms, and you name it.Bed, in art, has always attracted artists, albeit in different ways. Just think of nudes (or nearly so) such as the women depicted by great artists, from Titian to Manet to Lucian Freud.The exhibition at the Tate Modern in London A Second Life traces back the two lives of Tracey Emin, who suffered a lot after undergoing two major surgical procedures, without forgetting provocations like painting naked, in Sweden, for more than three weeks in front of the public.Now that she is reborn to a new life, she claims that bed is art and that My Bed was and is a painting.I agree with her: an artist without imagination would not be a genuine artist.And Emin is undoubtedly a great artist who is experiencing a second life with admirable courage, determination, and creativity.Interesting novelties are about to come.While waiting...
